Celeno Communications Collaborates with FiberHome

Celeno Communications, a forefront producer of semiconductors, which are used for home Wi-Fi multimedia networking apps, declared today that a leading Chinese telecommunications provider FiberHome Telecommunication Technologies Co., Ltd has chosen Wi-Fi system-on-a-chip (SoC) CL1800 introduced by Celeno Communications and notable for its high performance to equip its HG230 and HG500 optical network gateways with IPTV streaming carrier-grade Wi-Fi.

This cooperation between FiberHome and Celeno can be easily explained by the fact that FTTH network is expanding in China, and the demand for wireless HD IPTV home networking is constantly growing. The abovementioned solution is currently exhibited at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai in China, from May 1 – October 31. It is known that this solution will be employed in the metropolitan fiber network of Shanghai Telecom.
A massive FTTH network was launched by China Telecom across the country in order to service triple-play services. It is known that an operating unit of China Telecom – Shanghai Telecom – officially started this program in June last year. Other provinces are expected to join that program soon. The FiberHome optical gateway was selected by Shanghai Telecom in order to provide triple-play services (voice, HD IPTV, and data) and rapid broadband access capability.
