Last decade was the Earth’s warmest, says US report

The decade of 2000-2009 decade was the Earth’s warmest on record, according to a new U.S. report. The report was released Wednesday by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The report was prepared from the contribution of about 300 scientists from 48 countries It has been warned that the 2000s were warmer.

The report was based on 10 indicators of a warming world, seven of which are increasing while three declining. Average air temperature, the ratio of water vapor to air, ocean heat content, sea-surface temperature, sea level, air temperature over the ocean and air temperature over land are on the rise. The declining indicators include snow cover, glaciers and sea ice.
