Pak nexus between Lakshar and officials, say NSA
There is a nexus between Lashkar-e-taiba and official establishment of Pakistan, according to National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon. He said that the relationship between the two is getting stronger.
Menon said that those terrorists are increasingly fused in operations, ideology and communications. He said that traditional definition of terrorist has become meaningless. He also raised the issue of nuclear weapons falling in the terrorists’ hands.
About the terror trends, Menon said, “less possibility to be optimistic — not because the government did not understand the problem or that the strategies were intrinsically flawed. I think we know what needs to be done and who is responsible for terrorism.” He also said that counter-terrorism cooperation between US and India is much better and helped in making both the countries safer.
The Pakistani Foreign Office has called Menon’s charges as baseless. Its spokesperson Abdul Basit has said, “Yet another manifestation of the Indian establishment’s propagandist stance towards Pakistan.”
