Pak to get multi million dollar aid from America, announced Hillary
The United States of America has announced that it will provide a major aid package worth hundreds of millions of dollars to Pakistan in order to revive their economy. This declaration was made by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Islamabad during talks on the second day of her official visit..Clinton also said that this aid package will aim at initiating projects to help the water and power crisis that the country is currently facing.
These projects will look towards the construction of a number of dams, renovation and new construction of health facilities along with improvements aimed at the country’s power grid. In addition to this investments worth a hundred million dollars will also be made towards funding of small scale cottage industries and enterprises. Projects aimed at innovation and developing new technologies will also be looked after under this with a sum of around fifty million dollars being made available for them.
All this is a part of a long term investment programme in Pakistan which is likely to span over a period of fifteen years according to a U S official.The United States has with the announcement of this aid package made it clear that they are looking for closer and better relations with the South Asian country and will do whatever they can to give it the boost and the energy that is requires to develop. Also,this step aimed at the economic growth of Pakistan may help bridge the trust gap and reduce the Anti-American mindset that is very much prevalent in Pakistan.
The funding for these projects will be done by the Kerry-Lugar-Berman Act that has authorized nearly seven and a half billion dollars to be given to Pakistan as aid in the period of the next five years.
